Level-matched · both takes run in sync
Mid and side each get their own character mode, so Tape on the Mid can glue the low end while Fuzz on the Side opens up width that stays clear of the vocal and kick sitting dead center. Five modes per channel, driven separately. One thing worth trying on a chorus: drive it well past the point where it sounds good, then bring it back with the Mix knob until it sits. There is a key input as well, and it moves Drive rather than gain: send it the kick and the mid can back off its character on every hit while the sides keep theirs.
Character modes
Console
A clean, subtle console-style saturator. Adds low-order harmonics without shifting the tonal balance.
Tube
Even-harmonic tube saturation. Thickens the signal and rounds off transient peaks.
Tape
Tape-style soft clipping on peaks with a gentle high-frequency roll-off.
Drive
Harder clipping for a more aggressive, present sound.
Fuzz
Heavy asymmetric clipping. Built for extreme settings.
What it does
- Independent character modes for mid and side channels: Console, Tube, Tape, Drive, Fuzz
- Extreme mode pushes each character stage past its normal range
- Link ties mid and side drive to a single control
- Built-in oversampling reduces aliasing at high drive settings
- Auto gain compensates output level as drive increases
- Width control on the output stage narrows or widens the stereo image after saturation
- Solo either channel to audition Mid or Side on its own
- External sidechain per channel: a kick on the key input can move the mid's drive while the side ignores it
- SC Depth is bipolar, so the key can duck the character out of the way or drive harder on every hit, with shared attack and release describing the key itself
- A/B compare and full undo history on every parameter
